HologramL’emploi de la réalité virtuelle en politique ou l'hologramme

Sunday, February 5, 2017, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, presidential candidate of France, made the buzz on the social networks and the media by ensuring a meeting of almost 10.000 people thanks to a physical presence in Lyon and another via hologram in Paris. This magic trick by Adrenaline Studio cost between 50,000 and 100,000 euros.

The hologram, a process of illusion used since the eighteenth century in French theaters to produce the effect of appearance of ghosts, is in theory a simple process but whose realization is a bit delicate. Indeed, in order to ensure a successful buzz, the technical teams of Adrenaline Studio have been secretly preparing this “world premiere” for weeks.

The process consists of three steps. First, filming Jean-Luc Mélenchon with a camera in Lyon. Second, transmitting and projecting the video in real time in Paris, on a screen on the floor, invisible to the general public. Finally, reflecting the image on a transparent film stretched over the stage with a 45 ° inclination thus, allowing the 3D projection of Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
